Carl DeWitt is president of DeWitt-Tarkington Insurance Services, Inc.   Tarkington & Associates, Inc. was founded by Ed Tarkington in 1954.  DeWitt renamed the agency in 1989 to reflect his ownership of the firm.   DeWitt-Tarkington is a full service general agency providing, Automobile Insurance, Homeowners, Life,  and Business Insurance. 

DeWitt graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Economics.  Shortly after relocating to Lynchburg, DeWitt joined Tarkington & Associates, Inc. to help manage the local operation.  The agency has always had a strong presence in the Business Insurance arena and  has handled numerous National Accounts from Portland, Maine to Dallas, Texas.  DeWitt has tremendous experience in underwriting and managing Commercial Insurance in the medium and large markets.

DeWitt is an active participant in civic activities and recognizes the importance of business "giving back" to the community.  He has served as president of The American Heart Association Board in Lynchburg.  DeWitt is a charter member and past president of the Lynchburg Morning Rotary Club.  Through Rotary, DeWitt has helped raise funds for many area organizations such as The Salvation Army, Lynchburg Grows, The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg, and several others.  He has served with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization serving as a "Big Buddy" to a local elementary school child.  Carl is a member of the Greater Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of directors for the Westwood Homeowners Association.

Professionally, DeWitt has served on the Nationwide Agency Communications project as a liaison between company management and the Nationwide Agency force.  He has also served on several consulting teams at the Nationwide home office relative to changes in company marketing and management issues.  Carl has  served as a consultant on Nationwide's emerging  technologies in the areas of Automobile and Property insurance client relationship management software and Web based billing issues. 

Carl enjoys playing golf, music study, and spending time with his family.  He currently is a member of Rock & Roll Fantasy, an up and coming cover band of 70's and 80's music.

June D. Martin

June Martin has been an Associate Agent with DeWitt-Tarkington Insurance Services, Inc since April 2007.  June graduated from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Management and Business Administration.  Over the past 40 years, June has worked for several major insurance companies including The Prudential, Provident Mutual and Genworth Financial, including a global assignment with GE Edison in Tokyo, Japan. 

June’s passion is to provide customers with the best possible customer service.  During her career, June lead a number of large projects that resulted in the improvement of customer service and simplifying processes, and these skills have been utilized at DeWitt-Tarkington Insurance Services, Inc. 

June is very active with Forest Presbyterian Church, and supporting the many local charities such as the Smith Mountain Lake and Lynchburg Loft Tours to raise money for the Lynchburg Free Clinic.  In addition, June is a cancer survivor and participates annually in the Relay for Life, acting as a mentor and supporter for those in need.
